Construction Camps for Kids Nailed It!

Members of AGC East Tennessee, Building Leaders of Chattanooga (BLOC) and instructors at the Construction Career Center hosted two Construction Camps for middle-school kids in June, and what a blast it was!  Thirty kids from across Hamilton County learned about tools, carpentry, masonry, concrete, safety, and heavy equipment through hands-on projects. 

Here’s a quote from one of the camper’s mom:

“THANK YOU and your team for providing such a great camp experience. It’s a delight to ask your child to tell you about their day and they enthusiastically share the details of building things, laying brick, and fun games. So much better than the typical, “It was fine” response. My child learned some valuable skills that have already shown up at home as we had a small home repair project. He was a smart and safe helper with the tools needed. Also seeing my child seek out the instructors to thank them as we left tells me your team is great with teens. Thank you so much for this experience, I hope the camp continues to expand. I want to be in this camp!”
