AGC East Tennessee has been approached by Make-A-Wish to design and build a very special outdoor space for a precious 5-year old boy in Chattanooga named Bodhi.

ABOUT BODHI
Bodhi is not terminal but lives with lifelong challenges. He was born with an undeveloped chromosome that has left him non-verbal, with limited mobility, epilepsy, and other difficulties. He also experiences sunlight sensitivity, which can trigger seizures, and has difficulties with outdoor elements such as grass and mulch.

Bodhi has two very active 4-year-old twin sisters who love playing outside, and our mission is to create a space where all three children can enjoy time together in a safe and joyful environment with their parents.

THE PROJECT
AGC has been invited to design and construct Bodhi’s Outdoor Bungalow—a magical, shaded outdoor recreational area tailored to Bodhi’s specific needs.
Some considerations for the space:
> A shade structure with soft flooring and seating for safe mobility
> Sensory and water play equipment – he has a particular fondness of spinners, and fish
> Wheelchair accessibility and ramps
> Fans and misters to help regulate temperature
> An outdoor living area for the entire family, complete with seating, grilling, and TV

HOW YOU CAN HELP: JOIN THE PLANNING COMMITTEE
We are seeking volunteers to serve on our Planning Committee to help bring this dream to life. The goal is to complete construction by June 30, allowing the family to enjoy it throughout the summer and fall.  Our first meeting will be April 21 at 8:30 am at the Construction Career Center.

The Planning Committee members will:
> Develop the overall layout and design concept
> Develop a timeline to meet the June deadline
> Identify and source needed materials
> Assist in securing donations (material, labor and funding)
> Recruit and schedule volunteer labor for build days
> Organize additional fundraising efforts, if needed
